Turbo Monday at FAC

What a morning.  Class was packed.  I counted 4 turbos.  PiYo push-ups were insane and the 1 1/2 minute plank was the icing on the cake.  I can't wait to teach this class next week.  We gonna burn some major Spring Break calories.  No reason to get off course just because kids are out of school.  This would be the prime time to up your game as lunch plans will probably consist of "kids choice" and we all know what that is like.  1 hour and 10 minutes (yep, we went over) at 1044 calories.  We did approximately 25 PiYo push-ups with 4 stages each.  Stay tuned for Brazilian Booty Lift this evening at Fit Club in Frisco.  I enjoyed chatting with everyone this morning and hope to see you all next week.  New PiYo class added to FAC tomorrow afternoon from 4:30-5:30 in the Gold Medal Room (spin room).  Bring a mat or borrow one from Studio 1 up the hall.  Your gonna love it!  Have a GREAT MONDAY.  Work hard or go home.

Friday Hip Hop Hustle and Turbo Kick

I didn't have much starting out but the music GETS YOU IN THE MOOD.  Hip Hop Hustle was a scorcher on the calves and shins (for me).  The jams were hot and the moves hotter.  I was missing my wing man but Rich brought it "Friday" style.  1 hour at 543 calories.  After a much needed wardrobe change from the sweat, we turned up the heat with a little Turbo Kick.  I enjoyed being able to warm the group up (since I will have to teach this in a week all by my lonesome).  We did 3 turbos, some legs and finesse.  I was unable to stay for the ab section due to an overdue dentist appointment (YUCK).  But all said and done, 1 hour at 897 calories.  I would say that's a GREAT start to the weekend.  Hope to see you all again next FRIDAY!  These calories we recorded with the BodyBugg as I was unhappy with the Timex, FitBit and Garmin results for the day.  I have made my choice to stick with the BodyBugg and had no problem keeping it onl for both hours.  I wore it a little more snug than on Wednesday evening and it did not budge an inch.  WINNER!  Now I just need some BLING.

Thursday Spin

It was a packed house...not an open bike in the joint.  We missed Frank but Erin finished off the threesome.  I looked like terminator up in there with 4 different caloric burners on.  1 hour and 5 minutes and here are the calculations.  Garmin Forerunner = 827  FitBit = 793 Timex = 836 BodyBugg = 854...I think I will stick with the body bug for tomorrow if I can manage to keep it on my arm for two hours...hell who knows, I may want to be wired to the gills again.  I hope you got your workout in the for the day.  If not, its still early.  Make it a priority.  It is your health.  WORK HARD OR GO HOME!

INSANITY and Turbo

What an evening.  After burning 835 calories moving furniture, I took to the gym to teach my Athletic Training class.  THEY MISSED ME....such an awesome feeling.  We were sweating like it was 100 degrees in there.  The next instructor was feeling a bit under the weather so I stayed and helped her teach the TURBO class afterwards.  Great group of ladies and even one DUDE hung on for the booty shakin.  Since I did the two hours back to back I just let the calorie counters continue.  The BodyBugg registered at 1097 before it fell off 6 minutes into Turbo (which is exactly what I knew it would do).  The Timex kept on ticking and registered 2084 for the two hours.  While I feel the Body Bugg us more accurate (maybe because it is newer) it just cannot hold up under the high intensity moves.  The Timex is a good choice but with all the sweat and constant friction on the heart rate strap, it gives out quickly and digs deep into the skin by the end of two hours.  It has already snapped once and I have tied a knot in it to keep it going.  It comes in two parts so when one gives out, you have to replace the whole thing.  It was only about $75 new vs. BodyBugg which was $270.  The Garmin ran me about $250 and is NOT user friendly at all.  The FitBit has a sleep function which I enjoy but I just don't feel the accuracy is there.  SO, still on the hunt for the perfect calorie counter and will try and see what I can do to rig the Body Bug to stay on my arm during HIGH INTENSITY moves.  See you tomorrow for SPIN!

FitBit vs. Timex vs. BodyBugg

What an eye opener so far.  First of all, the FitBit does not hold its charge for the length of time I need it to.  I did about 20 minutes of PiYo before I was interrupted with a furniture delivery and the FitBit registered 267.  The Timex WR30M registered at 292. The Body Bugg registered at 303.  The FitBit was attached at the sport bra, the Timex is a heart rate monitor worn across the chest and the BodyBugg is worn on the Tri-cep muscle.  I am wearing all day (since noon) and will update this evening as to what my daily caloric burn was with all 3 types of calorie counters.  I will also post this evening Timex vs. BodyBugg after an hour of Insanity.  Stay tuned...

Tuesday Turbo at 24HR Fitness...

Well, Melissa subbed out today but Holly held down the fort even at 8 1/2 months pregnant.  Now that is a TURBO FANATIC!  I whine about my feet and she is over there Turboing with the body weight of 2 people.  Way to rock it girl.  Best of Turbo was sweaty as usual and you could tell by who stayed which were dedicated and which were not.  It allowed us more room to move when generally there is NONE.  Floor was sweatier than ever STILL and humidity was 86% by the time we were done.  I liked the standing abs section which we had not tried before from that round.  All in all, it was a great class.  1 hour at 913 calories.  Lots of jump tucks and floor touches...my back is gonna be cussing me later.

Fit Club Monday-Insanity

Low turn-out tonight but us dedicated ones did INSANITY-Pure Cardio.  We were sweatin bullets before we ever got out of the warm-up.  Shaun T knows how to inspire and push your limits.  He is my kind of motivation...doesn't hurt he comes from a military background also...It was 44 minutes of intense high impact aerobics (jump tucks are insane) at 518 calories.  Can't wait to see what we bring to the table next week.  WORK HARD OR GO HOME!
